Large luxury apartment in a beautiful historic chateau in Olonzac, capital of the Minervois. Olonzac is ideally situated - only 30 mins from the historic medieval city of Carcassonne (cheap Ryanair flights), 20 mins from Narbonne (trains from Waterloo), 25 mins from the beautiful, un-spolit Mediterranean beaches, 25 mins from Beziers, one hour from Montpellier, one hour from the Spanish border and just 2 hours from Barcelona.

Olonzac is a delightful, lively village, surrounded by vine-yards, very close to the Canal du Midi, with three restaurants, three bars, a number of shops, two supermarkets and a colourful weekly market. This is the land of the Cathars with many castles and museums to visit in the region, as well as the famous wine chateaus that produce some of the best wines in France.

The apartment was renovated in 2001 to a very high standard. It is situated on the first floor of the chateau and is huge (110 sq metres) with 30ft high ceilings. There are 2 large bedrooms (one double, one twin), both en-suite and there is also a day bed in the large bedroom. It has a large
terrace overlooking the communal garden with good quality wooden garden furniture. The apartment is stylishly furnished with leather sofas in the lounge, a modern, well-equipped fitted kitchen and a washing machine. There is a TV, DVD and CD player as well as maps, games and paperbacks. There is plenty of storage space and all linen and cleaning is included. Small pets allowed.

  rented locally for lovely rides along the canal tow paths.

• Boats can be rented out from the neighbouring village for either daily or longer hires.

• Excellent shopping facilities in Narbonne (20 mins drive) with three hypermarkets and a number of boutiques.

• Unspoilt, Mediterranean beaches are just 30 mins away.

• How to get there By air to Carcassonne (30 min drive to Olonzac) or to Toulouse (1.5 hrs) or Montpellier (£1 hr).

• By train to Narbonne (20 min drive to Olonzac).
